The United States is the world's largest soybean producer, accounting for 34% of the world's soybean production. Soybeans are usually planted in May or early June, with a harvest period from late September to October. 3.44 million hectares of land are used to grow soybeans. Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Wisconsin have the largest soybean plantations. The most productive states are Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Indiana. 

Brazil (the second largest soybean producer, according to the commodity basis report, the soybean planted in Brazil has higher protein than that planted in other parts of the world, so the price is more expensive in the international market. Brazil also produces natural non GMO soybeans, which are more expensive than genetically modified soybeans.

Argentina, with more than 20.3 million hectares of land dedicated to soybean production, is the world's third largest producer of crops. The states with the largest crop yields are: Cordoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires. Argentina accounts for 18% of the world's soybean production. It is the largest exporter of soybean oil and soybean meal, but only exports 7% of soybean raw materials. 2013 was an important year for Argentina's soybeans, with a net income of $10.7 billion. From 2014 to 2015, the annual output of soybean was 40.1 million tons to 56 million tons.
